Rue Critchfield
Ashley is the founding principal of Nanka and a Lecturer in Architecture at University of California, Berkeley. She is a licensed architect in California and New York. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from UC Berkeley and a Master of Architecture I from Harvard Graduate School of Design. She has experience working in firms including The Los Angeles Design Group (LADG), AS_IS, and Atelier Bow-Wow. She has taught courses at Harvard including Core Prep, Design Discovery, Digital Sketching, and Digital Media and currently teaches design studios at Berkeley.

Rue is the founding principal of Nanka and leads projects based in Japan. Rue is originally from Osaka and speaks Japanese and English natively. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from University of California, Berkeley. He previously worked as a Project Manager at Kengo Kuma and Associates in Tokyo, Japan. Prior to working in architecture Rue managed the clothing store Cotton Sheep in San Francisco, California.
